Moon Phases Widget App

Moon Phases Calculation
Moon Phase calculations are only approximate. Calculations are based on simple Astronomical Algorithms where the only input is date. Advanced algorithms are more precise as they take into account location, distance calculations of celestial objects, etc.
Main purpose of the app is to use widget app. You can add it to the home screen of your device. Widget shows current moonphase.Â
Phase-Day section in the application shows approximate illumination of the moon for the calculated phase. Source for the moon images is NASA's Scientific Visualization Studio (Visualizer: Ernie Wright (USRA). When applicaiton is opened, image is shown for today at the current time. One can then select moon phase image for another date by swiping left or right the moon image or selecting specific date from the calendar. Time used for the calculation is the one when application was opened. If time should be refreshed, one has to restart the application.
Phase-List section in the application has approximate calculation of starting date & time for each moon phase in the future. Therefore shown date & time are not precise! The date and time are shown in selected timezone on your device. User can scroll moon phases list from the last start of the phase to the future ones.
